HEIC to PNG Converter
Create PNG from a supported HEIC primary image locally, preserving supported transparency and the correctly oriented pixel dimensions.
When to use HEIC to PNG
Choose PNG when an editor needs a lossless raster output from HEIC. PNG does not recover detail lost by HEIC compression and can be substantially larger.
How to convert
- Choose or drop one local HEIC image. Review the detected dimensions and file size.
- PNG output keeps supported transparency; there is no quality slider to adjust.
- Select Convert to PNG. Review the actual output preview, dimensions and file size, then download it.
What changes in the output?
The unique primary image is selected explicitly. Native decoding is preferred; the lazy libheif-js 1.23.5 fallback is limited to 4 million pixels with default library security limits retained. Supports eight-bit HEVC still images and unassociated alpha. Container rotations/mirroring are handled once. Image sequences, premultiplied alpha, declared higher depths and unsupported containers are rejected. This is an 8-bit sRGB output path, not HDR or archival color preservation.
EXIF orientation is applied once to the pixels. Source metadata is not copied into the new file. Browser color conversion and an sRGB canvas may change embedded profile handling; this is not an archival color-preservation tool.
Image codec licenses, notices and source availability. Only a codec required by this conversion loads; files stay in this browser.
Limits, privacy and browser support
JPG, PNG and WebP use native browser decoders and encoders where an actual local probe succeeds. Unsupported encoders produce an error; a PNG fallback is never renamed as another format. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected by these static converters. Corrupted and unsupported variants can fail even when a filename looks correct.
The local service estimates processing memory and allows one job at a time. Very large dimensions or memory requirements are rejected before decoding. The estimate is not a measurement of peak browser memory. Encoding has a 30-second deadline and output is capped at 64 MiB. The worker, bitmap and canvas are released after each job. Preview and download URLs stay valid until replacement, reset or navigation, when they are revoked.
Your selected file and converted result stay in this browser. No automatic saving, background upload or remote conversion service is used.
