HEIC to JPG Converter

Convert a supported HEIC primary image to JPEG locally, with quality and transparency-background controls. No image is uploaded.

Input

Or drag one local image file here. File contents determine the format.

No image selected.

Choose one image. Files stay in this browser.

One static image. Up to 16 MiB and 12 million pixels, with each side no longer than 16,384 pixels. No files are uploaded. HEIC: unique primary still image, 8-bit HEVC. A required local fallback is limited to 4 million pixels. The conversion uses a local worker; Cancel stops that worker.

Output

No converted image yet.

When to use HEIC to JPG

Create a JPEG from a compatible HEIC image when the destination does not accept HEIC. Collections use their unique primary image, even when it is not first; other images are not combined.

How to convert

  1. Choose or drop one local HEIC image. Review the detected dimensions and file size.
  2. Choose the output quality. Choose a background for transparent pixels; white is the default.
  3. Select Convert to JPG. Review the actual output preview, dimensions and file size, then download it.

What changes in the output?

Native HEIC decoding is attempted first. When needed, a separate local libheif-js 1.23.5 WebAssembly decoder loads with its default security limits; this fallback accepts up to 4 million pixels. Eight-bit HEVC still-image content is supported. Sequences, premultiplied alpha, declared higher bit depths, oversized item tables and unsupported variants are rejected. Container rotation/mirroring is applied by the decoder and checked against the validated oriented dimensions. JPEG uses white or the selected transparency background; output metadata is not copied.

EXIF orientation is applied once to the pixels. Source metadata is not copied into the new file. Browser color conversion and an sRGB canvas may change embedded profile handling; this is not an archival color-preservation tool.

Image codec licenses, notices and source availability. Only a codec required by this conversion loads; files stay in this browser.

Limits, privacy and browser support

JPG, PNG and WebP use native browser decoders and encoders where an actual local probe succeeds. Unsupported encoders produce an error; a PNG fallback is never renamed as another format. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected by these static converters. Corrupted and unsupported variants can fail even when a filename looks correct.

The local service estimates processing memory and allows one job at a time. Very large dimensions or memory requirements are rejected before decoding. The estimate is not a measurement of peak browser memory. Encoding has a 30-second deadline and output is capped at 64 MiB. The worker, bitmap and canvas are released after each job. Preview and download URLs stay valid until replacement, reset or navigation, when they are revoked.

Your selected file and converted result stay in this browser. No automatic saving, background upload or remote conversion service is used.
